Camadevi Monument ‘Pay respect to the great female warrior’
Queen Camadevi is another important person in the history of Thai. She was the first ruler of Haripunchai. She was well-known for her bravery, intellect, and leadership of Buddhism. She spreaded Buddhism within the area, making it more valuable and widely-known.
According to the legend, there is no information that shows the certain background of Camadevi. Some says whe was a daughter of a Lawo king. But some says that she was a daughter of a millionaire from Haripunchai.
Camadevi monument is located in the heart of Lamphun, about 1 kilometre away from the city hall. It was built as the honour of hers.
When you go. You should see that the monument is a quiet place. Her statue is covered in dark brown color and located in the middle of empty lot. There are trees and flowers around.
Most tourists love to get there to pay respect to her, or even wish for simple things. You just purchase some flowers and candles from any booth at the monument, then start paying your respect.
How to get there
Queen Camadevi monument is located somewhere around Nhong Dok Park. Just get any public vehicle. But the most popular one is tricycle. Tricycles can be found anywhere, but there will be most in front of Nhong Dok Market. The service fee starts at 20 Baht.

The museum is only about 0.58 kilometer away from the monument. It’s a museum of contemporary style, but does have exhibitions that reflect stories of Lamphun in the past. There are photos, texts, and old things. If you want to see things that your parents or grandparents used when they were young, then don’t miss this place.
Another good museum that you should go. It’s only about 0.60 kilometre away from the monument. You will see over 3,000 pieces of ancient items there. These item came from different periods, starting from pre-historic period.
