Thai Elephant Conservation Centre ‘Meet your long-trunked friends.’
Elephants are very important in Thailand. They’ve been being treated like family members all long. In fact, they’re symbols of Thailand. Whoever think about Thailand always think about Thai elephants too.
Therefore, there is no wonder why there are some elephant care centres being established. Yes. To take good care of elephants and protect them from dangers. With that, they should live long and hard to be extinct in the future.

Thai Elephant Conservation Centre is under the care of The Forest Industry Organization. It was once a training centre for baby elephants. However, as time went by, it was adapted into elephant caring and curing centre instead. Tourists are allowed to get in and visit those lovely elephants.
If you love animals and want to see those long-trunked friends, you should go. You will see how cute they are. Elephant are able to do many things, beside of eating, sleeping, and moving. Prove that by waching their performances. There are 3 rounds of performances per one day: 10:00, 11:00, and 13:30. But if it’s Saturday or Sunday, there won’t be any performance at 13:30. Anyway, don’t forget to get your camera ready too.
Beside of watching performances, you can walk around the area to have a sightseeing too. Or, if you hate to walk, you can sit on an elephant’s back instead. Just ask any officer or mahout for further information.
For the admission fee, it costs 100 Baht for a Thai adult, 50 Baht for a Thai child, 170 Baht for a foreign adult, and 110 Baht for a foreign child.
How to get there
The Elephant Conservation Centre is located at Ban Tung Kwian, Wiang Tan District, Hang Chat County. To get there, if you have a car, just use the Highway No.11(Lampang-Lamphun). The destination will be at the 28th or 29th kilometre, approximately. But if you have no car, just get a bus from Lampang Bus Station. Look for a one that can get you to Chiang Mai. You just have to get off in front of the centre before the bus get to Chiang Mai.
Nearby Places
Even the place is in Lamphun, not Lampang, but you can still reach there in 39 minutes. You should see the monument of this great woman, who was a brave warrior in the past and the first ruler of Hripunchai. You can pay respect to her statue as a good fortune for your life.
This museum gathers a lot of gorgeous ceramic artworks, including those famous ‘chicken-patterned bowls’. You will learn the history of them, see how they’re made, and that’s a valuable experience for you.
