Wat Chedi Sao ‘A bunch of white pagodas are as gorgeous as pearl.’
Have you ever seen a gorgeous temple like this?
Wat Chedi Sao is well-known for its white pagodas. These pagodas stand near each other, looking glorious like pieces of pearl. They are decorated in Lanna-Burmese style and there is a small temple on site as well with a Chiang Saen-style Buddha image. A sign says “one can assume they are over one thousand years old,” on account of votive tablets from the Haripunjaya period unearthed by villagers here.
The legend says, if you can count them 20, you will gain good luck. Beside, some believe that there is Lord Buddha’s relics inside.
That’s not the end of that. Beside of these pagodas, there are still many other important architectures inside the temple, for examples, the vihara with the Lord Buddha statue named ‘Phra Chao Tan Chai’, the ubosot with the principle Lord Buddha statue, the pavillion which is in fact an antique museum.
There aren’t legends that can tell the precise year of establishment of this temple. But from amulets of Hripunchai that have been found, it’s possible that the temple has been built for over 1,000 year.
