Here is Wat Chaimongkol in Chiang Mai. It is one of the most valuable ancient temples in the province.
In the past, Wat Chaimongkol was once a Mon temple. It was built in the age of Tilokaraj. Its former name is Wat Maloe, or Maloeng, which mean the sunrise both. The main highlight of this temple is its Mon Chedi, which looks glorious and shiny with golden and white color.
And, the ubosot and the vihara overlaps. That causes them both to be the same architecture.
Anyway, the temple is mainly decorated in Burmese-Mon style. This is the most outstanding appearance.
The east side of Wat Chaimongkol is next to Ping River. And nearby the river, the statue of King Chulalongkorn, the 5th king of Thailand, is located.
This temple is respected by many tourists, both Thai and foreign. Many tourists travel all the way from their location to pay respect to the principle Buddha statue inside the ubosot, or sometimes wish themselves good luck.

How to get there
Wat Chaimongkol is located on Charoenprathet Road, Chang Klan District, Muang County, Chiang Mai Province.
If you travel from the heart of Chiang Mai, it takes about 20 minutes. If you travel from the county, it takes only about 9 minutes. The most convenient way to go to the temple is to take a red truck. Tell the driver that you want to go to Wat Chaimongkol.
