What do you thinking of going inside a temple to make merit and relax your mind? Wont it be nice to spend your holiday with these kinds of things?

If you wish to go to a quiet temple, with super traditional looking, then here is a suggested one for you.

Here is Wat Chaimongkol in Chiang Mai. It is one of the most valuable ancient temples in the province.

In the past, Wat Chaimongkol was once a Mon temple. It was built in the age of Tilokaraj. Its former name is Wat Maloe, or Maloeng, which mean the sunrise both. The main highlight of this temple is its Mon Chedi, which looks glorious and shiny with golden and white color.

And, the ubosot and the vihara overlaps. That causes them both to be the same architecture.

Anyway, the temple is mainly decorated in Burmese-Mon style. This is the most outstanding appearance.

The east side of Wat Chaimongkol is next to Ping River. And nearby the river, the statue of King Chulalongkorn, the 5th king of Thailand, is located.

This temple is respected by many tourists, both Thai and foreign. Many tourists travel all the way from their location to pay respect to the principle Buddha statue inside the ubosot, or sometimes wish themselves good luck.

The atmosphere within the temple area is very peaceful. You don’t have to worry about any chaos. You can walk around for sightseeing, taking photos, admiring stunning murals and architectures. Or, you can make merit by purchasing some fishes and turtles, before releasing them back into Ping River. Moreover, you can also redeem the lives of cows and buffalos. By doing so, it is believed that you will be out of all dangers, illness and sorrow.

The temple is opened daily, from 5:00-19:00. You can call 053-820671 for further details.
