Khunkon Waterfall was once known as ‘Tad Mhok Waterfall’. It is located in Mae Kao and Mae Kok, both are preserved forests. Therefore you will be surrounded with greeney and fresh air for sure.
Khun Kon Waterfall is also considered to be the highest waterfall in Chiang Rai, with about 70 metres. As soon as you arrive at it, you will see the water flows from a high cliff all the time, causing relaxing sound and cool drizzle water.

Don’t let your small children be in the water on their own, but always go with them. Just don’t forget to bring your own things: your tent, your pillow, your foods, your bottles of water, your blanket etc. Remember that you are in the middle of forest. There aren’t shopping malls or convenient stores for you to purchase something you want.
Or, you don’t want to spend any night, but you just want some sightseeing, you only have to pay for about 10-80 Baht, in order to get into the area of the waterfall. Then you can enjoy your time in freestyle. This is very affordable and worthy.

How to get there
Khun Khon Waterfall is very easy to go to. You just have to travel for only about 33 kilometres from the heart of Chiang Rai.
You may take a minibus, which can take you from Chiang Rai to Ban Pang Rim.
If you have a personal car, you can continue straight along the Highway No.1, in order to reach Ban Rong Kun. After reaching Ban Rong Kun, switch to the Highway No.1205. Keep going until you see a junction. Turn right at the junction, as the path leads you to Khunkon Waterfall. When you arrive at the waterfall, just park your car in a parking lot. Then you have to walk all the way up to the waterfall.

This temple is only about 19 kilometres away from the waterfall. You can go there before or after visiting the waterfall. This temple, designed by the famous artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, is something like a kind of landmark of Chiang Rai. It is very beautiful. The whole temple is covered in white color like pearl. Most tourists, especially foreign tourists, hate to miss it. They usually have to visit there before leaving Chiang Rai.
