Oub Kham Museum ‘Sip the taste of the history of Lanna Kingdom.’
If you step in to a historic town like Chiang Rai, which was also a part of Lanna Kingdom, it will be a pity if you don’t visit any places that consist of this history.
There are so many places around Chiang Rai, where you can go and learn about the history of Lanna Kingdom. By saying ‘learn’, we don’t actually mean sitting in a classroom and read a student book, but we mean getting all valuable knowledge from everywhere. Therefore, it will be a great opportunity for you to get outside and learn stuffs from real places.
And, here is a place that you should go, in case you can’t decide. You should visit ‘Oub Kham Museum’, a museum of Lanna history that will full-fill your brain and mind.
Oub Kham Museum was built by Julasak Suriyachai, a lecturer who totally loves the history of Lanna and has always wanted to preserve it. The name of the museum is based on ‘Oub Kham’, which is a gold-coated bamboo bowl used by kings or some senior monks to contain foods.
Really, this is not a large museum like many others, but it is definitely a good museum to visit. Its decoration is in Lanna contemporary style, looking quite colorful. Around the museum, there are gardens and fountains, creating the fresh atmosphere.
Everything at Oub Kham Museum is all about Lanna. All exhibitions reflect its valuable stories. There are exhibitions both indoor and outdoor. For the outdoor, there are a large field, trees, and sculptures. For the indoor, you can just walk right into the building with pointy roof.
The exhibitions are mostly like ornaments, silverwares, or some ancient collections. You better see them with your eyes only. Don’t touch them, or you will damage them and cause an inordinate amount of money. Not only that, photography is probably prohibited in some parts of the museum. Therefore, let’s be careful.
The admission fees are quite affordable too. Anyone can go.
