Sometimes, temples are not just religious places, but they consists of something more. This probably refers to ‘Wat Phra That Mae Chedi’, another good temple in Chiang Rai. This temple is no ordinary temple. Let’s see the following information to find out why.
Wat Phra That Mae Chedi is located in the middle of woodland. Therefore you can wander around, see some interesting architectures like Chedi Sri Wichai, a square-based pagoda established by kruba Sri Wichai, a series of Kruba Sri Wichai statues, Buddha statues, and lots more. You can take some nice photos if you want to. But don’t forget in inhale the sweet smell of the air into your lungs, as the weather around there is really good.

How to get there
Wat Phrathat Mae Chedi is located at Ban Mae Chedi, Wiang Pa Pao County, Chiang Rai Province.
It will be best if you have your own car, because, if that so, all you have to do is keep going along the road Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai, in order to reach Wiang Pa Pao County. That is quite easy.
If you travel to Chiang Rai by a plane and didn’t rent any car, this may cause a little difficulties for you, as you must take a bus instead. You may get exhausted. However, if that doesn’t matter to you, it’s OK and probably be fun to be in a public vehicle and see stunning scenery during the way to the temple.
There are many bus lines for you to choose, for examples, Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai-Mae Kha Chan. To get into one of these bus, you can’t be late. These buses are arranged on a strict departure schedule. Everything is set up. If you are not punctual, you will definitely miss them.
These buses can give you a ride to Wiang Pa Pao, but they can not take to the temple directly. After you get out of your bus, you have to walk on your feet or hire a truck instead.

If you feel kinda exhausted after touring the temple, you may want to make a little stop at this place. Mae Ka Chan Hot Springs is only 12 kilometres away from the temple. You have to travel for only 13 minutes. As soon as you arrive, you can take a bath in a mineral pond, boil eggs in a hot spring, or just soak your feet in hot water. The hot springs there are guaranteed to be totally natural. Just have fun!
Only 20 minutes of travel and you will reach it! This national park is like some kind of heaven. It is full of plants and animals like birds, bears, monkeys, and falcons. Beside, there are many beautiful spots, for examples, Mae Tho Waterfall, Khun Chae Waterfall, or the sightseeing spot Doi Lanka. Feel free to enjoy your time there!
