Here comes another hot spring that you may fall in love with. Pong Duat Hot Spring in Mae Tang County, Chiang Mai.

As you know, there are quite many hot spring in northern Thailand, including Chiang Mai Province. In Chiang Mai, beside of San Kamphaeng Hot Spring, Pong Duat Hot Spring is also a great place. In fact, it’s even the biggest Geyser hot spring in Thailand. The water is nearly 99 degree Celcius. You have to be careful. Also, the spring is about 2 metres high. You can even smell sulphur in it . But don’t worry. The smell is not bad.

At Pong Duat hot spring, there are 3 large ponds. The largest one has the hot spring, which should spring itself every 30 seconds. Nearby, there are some bathing rooms, where you can also enjoy taking a bath with natural hot water. It will do good to your skin.

Beside of enjoying natural hot water, you can even enjoy nature exploring trip too. For your information, Pong Dueat Hot Spring is the start point of ‘Pong Duat Nature Exploring Path’. Therefore, you can take a bath with hot mineral water first, then you probably go explore the woodland. Or you may finish your nature exploring trip first, then just take a bath. It’s all up to you.

However, if you want to go on a nature exploring trip, you have to make sure that you are in perfect health. The path is quite long, about 1,550 metres. You need to walk for about one hour to finish it.

How to get there 

Pong Duat Hot Spring, as you’ve already been informed, is located in Mae Tang County, Chiang Mai Province.

To get there, you can just go along the Highway No.1095(Mae Malai-Paii). Not so late, you should find the 42nd kilometre pole, which is located just before Huai Nam Dang National Park. At the point, turn left, as the sign tell you to do so. Keep going for another 6.5 kilometres

The national park is only about 29 kilometres away from the hot spring. It requires about 46 minutes of travel. The whole area takes place from Mae Tang County, Wiang Hang County, and Chiang Dao County. You will love it, as you will be in the middle of mountains and all beautiful nature. It’s a great place to enjoy and relax yourself when you feel nervous.
