Yes. In the ancient days, there aren’t clothes shop like nowadays. People in the past didn’t shop for any clothes, but they had to make their own clothes. That’s not easy at all. They had to weave their own fabrics and transform those fabrics into ready-to-wear clothes.
That’s why ancient fabrics look so glorious. It’s because, they were weaved with difficulties. They’re an intellect that should always be preserved.

Komol Fabric Museum established in the year 1992, allows you to learn every possible things of ancient fabrics. That’s what the man who established it, Mr.Komol Panichpan, wants. He collects ancient fabrics and wants other people to see how gorgeous and valuable they are too. The museum was once a traditional technology centre in the honour of Queen Sirikit.
Now, you already know that making fabrics in old days was very difficult. Go and see those fabric at the museum and you will know that it’s true. See their patterns, their colors, and their surfaces.
Komol Fabric Museum is divided into 5 different zones.
The first zone is called ‘Wiang Ta Art’. It’s where you can see wooden sheets being colored with dust color.
The second zone is Long Town Ancient Fabric, which stores Zin Teen Jok fabric.
The third zone allows you to learn more about Zin Teen Jok fabric from different places, as this zone is ‘Zin Teen Jok’.
The fourth zone will show you how to take good care of old fabrics. Yes. Old fabrics have been living for years. If you don’t know how to take good care of them, they may be damaged.
The last zone may be your favourite. It’s the souvenir zone. Buy something for you or your friends and take home.
It’s nice that the admission fee is not required at this museum. You just go in and walk around.
How to get there
Komol Fabric Museum is located in Huai Ao District, Long County, Phrae Province.
If you will arrive at Phrae by an airplane, just get out of the airport and turn right. When you reach the hospital intersection, turn left and go through two traffic intersections and Phrae Technical College. Then cross Yom River. After continuing straight for about 40 kilometres, you will reach Long County and the museum should be on your right side.

The temple is about 39 kilometres away from the museum. There is a lied-down Lord Buddha statue at this temple. You should go and pay respect to. Then just walk around the temple and see all beautiful architectures.
This national park is about 33 kilometres away from the museum. If you want a camping in the middle of nature, then just go. There are camping grounds for tourists. You will sleep in your tent with mountains and trees around.
