Same as any other flower fields, Bua Tong Field at Doi Mae-U-Kho is full off flowers and located in the middle of mountains. Sounds nice, doesn’t it?
The flowers in Bua Tong Field are Bua Tong, of course. Bua Tong, or the scientific name ‘Tithonia diversifolia’, originated in Mexico. However, it can be found a lot in Thailand, including at Doi Mae-U-Kho. The flower usually damages ecological system and its breeding need to be controled somehow, but it’s beautiful. It’s yellow and almost look like a tiny sunflower.
You should visit Bua Tong Field at Doi Mae-U-Kho during winter, somewhere around November and the beginning of December. The flowers only bloom during the time. You can see them only once a year.
Bua Tong Field at Doi Mae-U-Kho is about 1.6 millions square metres large. It is the biggest Bua Tong Field in Thailand. The landscape consists of descending hills and mountains. It should remind you the first scene of the movie ‘The Sound of Music’, when Maria sneaked out of the abbey and went to the mountain to sing happily. Although the scene didn’t have Bua Tong, but at least it’s naturally beautiful and the atmosphere looks like Bua Tong Field at Doi Mae-U-Kho. It’s just worthy of visiting.

How to get there
The Bua Tong Field at Doi Mae-U-Kho is about 25 kilometres away from Khun Yuam County Office.
To get there, you should start your engine in the heart of Mae Hong Son. Keep going along the Highway No.108. Turn left at the 201st kilometre to switch to the Highway No.1263 instead. Continue straight for abour 12 kilometres until you find the way to the road Ban Na Ngew-Ban Hua Ha. Be patient, in the next 14 kilometres, you should see Doi Mae-U-Kho with your own two eyes.

You don’t want to miss this. This waterfall is located just on Doi Mae-U-Kho, not too far away from Bua Tong Field. This waterfall is about 30 metres, so beautiful.
Only about 12 kilometres away from Bua Tong Field, this is one of the highest waterfall in Thailand. You can wander around, have a sightseeing, have a picnic, or explore the woodland.
