Northern Thai history is one of the most interesting ancient stories. It was first opened in the year 1973 by Queen Sirikit. Nowadays, the museum is under the care of the Fine Arts Department.

How to get there
Chiang Mai National Museum is located on Chiang Mai-Lampang Road, nearby Wat Ched Yod, Chang Phuak District, Muang County.
There are two ways to travel to travel to the museum. The first way is to take your own car. You just start your trip from Chiang Mai downtown, at Huai Kaew Road. Just turn into Super Highway Road. Then, after you pass Wat Ched Yod, you will find the museum soon.
The second way is to hail a red truck and tell the driver that you want to go to Chiang Mai National Museum.

The viharn is built in a style completely different from the other Lanna style or more recent Rattanakosin style structures.

The Wat Suan Dok located just West of the old walled part of Chiang Mai city is a very old temple known for its large number of white chedis or pagodas. The most noticeable feature of the Wat Suan Dok is the large number of chedis. The tallest golden chedi in Sri Lankan style is 48 meters high and contains the relic of the Buddha.
