You may have been to many market fairs before. But Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is quite different. Beside of opening only at night, it also consists of many many vendor booths. You can even walk around until the end.

Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is one of the most long-time popular tourist attractions, especially for foreign tourists or Chinese tourists. There aren’t many Thai tourists there, because the vendors sell quite expensive goods. However, if you don’t buy too many things, you may want to spend your night there.

This market fair is located just in Chiang Mai downtown. There are many kinds of goods sold there, costumes, silverware, shoes, traditional items, bags, fabrics, and lots more. Moreover, there are also food-selling booths and food centres. Just relax yourself, eating something and sipping a glass of beer. If these aren’t enough for you, you can also require for a service of spa or massage. Completely convenient!

Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is easy to find. It’s on the opposite side of The Plaza and Dusit D2 Chiang Mai Hotel. You will see an enormous label written Night Bazaar. Go ahead and enjoy it!

After you enter the area, you will see the nice and simple decoration. It looks quite natural. There are both outdoor and indoor zone. Just choose the one you like. There are open-air massage chairs, for tourists who wish to get massage service. Chinese tourists really love this. You too, if you get sore from all-day walking, just stop by and get yourself massage.

For those who are beer lovers, just walk straight toward ‘The Beer Field’! There you can sit relax, drinking beer while listening to live music performance. Next to the field, the food court is located. You can buy some food and take it to eat in The Beer Field.

If you travel with someone you love, don’t forget to write down your memory by requiring drawing service. There are some booths around offering you portrait drawing service. Just get at least one!

How to get there:

Chiangmai Night Bazaar is located on Chang Klan Road, starting from the side of Ta Pae Road to almost Sri Don Chai Road.

The first way to travel there is to drive a personal car. Start your trip from Ta Pae Gate, then turn left into Loi Kro Road. Then you will find the junction of Chang Klan Road, which is actually a McDonald’s right in the middle of Night Bazaar. You will need to turn right at this junction, then keep left to the parking lots nearby McDonald’s, or you can just drive further to park at Anusarn Market. The market is on your left side.

The second way is to grab a red truck from Chiang Mai downtown. The price costs about 20 or 30 Baht.

The last way is to walk. Total 800 metres, start from Ta Pae Gate, walking along Ta Pae Road until you find the intersection Ta Pae Road-Chang Klan Road. This is not difficult to find, because you will see Wat Upakut at the corner. Then you turn right into Chang Klan Road before seeing Night Bazaar.

Kad Luang, meaning “great market” in the Northern Thai dialect, dates back to the time of King Rama V. This market is the centre of wholesale shopping centres including clothes, plastics, flowers, meats. It is also the meeting points of local transportation heading to each district in Chiang Mai.
