Feel extremely romantic with stunning mountains and thick fog around. Doi Mae Chok is a part of Khun Satannational Park and a good place to see thick fog.
Getting there during winter will be nice. Just get your jacket, boots, gloves, etc. ready. Doi Mae Chok is very high, about 1,424 metres from the sea level.
Don’t worry about your shelther. It will be comfortable for sure. Every room provides you large windows, rock walls, and shower room. You will feel convenient.
Just plan your daily schedule simply, first day of your arrival, after getting yourself settled, you will first want to take your camera and take photos around your shether.
In the evening, you can have dinner and watch the sunset. Then, at night, just take out your telescope to see some beautiful stars. Countryside sky is basically clearer than big city sky. Therefore, you will enjoy seeing stars.
Stay there at least 3 days. Set your alarm clock at about 6:00am everyday, in order to get up and see thick fog right on time.
There is a shop in the national park. It may be a little bit far from your shelter. However, you can get there and buy some food and bring it to your shelter to eat, in case you don’t have any food with you. Also, if you forget to bring something from your home, probably soap, towel, toothbrush, you can buy it at the shop.
How to get there
Doi Mae Chok is in Nan Province. There are two different routes that you can use to get there.
One way to get there is to start your trip in Phrae. Follow the Highway 101. Head for Huai Kad Village in Rong Kwang County. Try to look for the Highway 1216 and switch to it instead. Keep going for another 26 kilometres and you will reach your destination.
Another way is to start your trip in Nan Province. Use the same Highway as the first way. The only difference here is that you have to reach Wiang Sa County in the second method. After reaching Wiang Sa County, you will have to get to the Highway 1026 and head for Na Noi County. Then switch to the Highway 1216. After another 31 kilometres, you will be at the Khun Sathan national park.

This cave is in Phrae Province, but you can still get there from the national park. There has been a sad love legend of this cave. It says, a princess ran away with her man, but they both were hunted down by soldiers and ran into the cave. The princess gave birth to her son in the cave and sacrificed herself by letting her man to escape. She stayed in the cave and waited for her man to come back, but he didn’t. She waited until her body turned into stone.
Meet the twin of Phae Muang Pee Forest Park. Yes. Sao Din Na Noi consists of rough orange-brown stone cliffs. You can get there to have a leisure sightseeing or take some photos.
