Kuang Mueng Nan Walking Street ‘A little shopping district with great happiness’
In the evening, if you have nowhere to go, let’s step to Kuang Mueng Nan and have a little shopping.
Kuang Mueng Nan walking street is located just in front of Wat Phumin. It’s available on Saturday night and Sunday night, from 17:00-22:00. Believe it, the temple itself and the walking street will look extremely gorgeous. Most nights there is entertainment of some kind.
In the tourist season (November to February) there is often a stage with more formal entertainment, but at other times there is informal street entertainment such as singers or dancers, after which a box is passed around for donations. There are public toilets next to the Tourist Information booth, further down the street.
What you can buy there are mostly food, from snack to meal. All prices are affordable. Even you have a small amount of money, you can still full-fill your stomach. There are mostly everything: fried chicken, grilled squid, meatball, Kanomjeen Nam Ngeow etc. An eating area with low tables and mats sets up in the open area in front of the adjacent wat itself. There’s no need to hurry. Just relax yourself and eat everything you want.
However, there isn’t only food. There are also some souvenirs, which you can buy and take them home. Walk around and see everything for yourself. With over 300 booths, you may forget your feet sore after all.
If you are coming to Nan I would really recommend including a weekend so that you can experience this, as it is great entertainment and the food is excellent.
How to get there
Just continue straight, using the Highway 1080. Look for Mahayos Road. Pass Wat Suan Tan and then turn right to get to Pha Kong Road and pass Nan County Office. You will find the temple on your right side. Find your parking lot and then reach for the walking street. Enjoy!
