Mae Ping National Park ‘Heaven of water, mountains, plants, animals’

If you’re looking for a national park that’s extremely plentiful with trees, clear water, high mountains, then ‘Mae Ping National Park’ is a great choice.

Mae Ping National Park is a national, which takes place in Chiangmai, Lamphun, and Tak. It mostly consists of high mountains and brooks. Also, many types of animals can be found. The whole area is also large, about 1,003 square kilometres. These make Mae Ping National Park a lovely natural place to visit. It’s like a scene from a Walt Disney cartoon, in fact. With clear streams, forests, small animals living together, the place can be considered as a kind of heaven.

Mae Ping National Park is perfect for sightseeing. The highest spot of the area is ‘Doi Hua Lao’, which is about 1,334 metres higher than the medium sea level. You may want to go up there to gain the better view.

The weather around there is not too hot and not too cold. The average temperature of the upper part is about 25 degree Celcius all year round, while the lower part is 27 degree Celcius. Therefore, if you don’t like hot weather, you don’t have to worry about anything.

There are many types of forests at the national park, for examples, mixed forest, tropical rain forest, deciduous dipterocarp forest etc. For the animals, you should find some of deers, wild chickens, foxes, squirrels, birds, fresh water fishes.

The scenery at the national park is so beautiful. Everything fits each other perfectly. The water is clear and appears in blue-green color like a piece of emerald. The mountains can be seen from a great distance. The animals are around. What a sweet place!

What can you do when you arrive at the Mae Ping national Park?

• You can have a sightseeing, of course.
• There are some waterfalls within the area, for an example, Kho Luang Waterfall. You may want to have a picnic around there and play the water. But always keep the area clean and you should have permission from a ranger before you get into the water, for your own safety.
• A cave like Yang Wee Cave is also at the national park. You will want to go in there to see those glorious stalactites.
• You can also pay respect to the Lord Buddha statue at Phra That Pha Khai Intr Kwaen, which is near Ping River.
• Get something to eat from the restaurants, which are open everyday.

How to get there

You should drive along the Highway No.A1. Just head north until you arrive at Thoen County, Lampang Province. Then switch to the Highway No.106 instead. That path should lead you directly to Lamphun. At the 47th kilometre, turn your wheel and get right into the Highway No.1087. Soon you will find the national park at the 20th or 21st kilometre of the road.
