Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is a national park and a botanic garden in Pong Yaeng, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province. The area is about 5.6 miilion square metres, really enormous. It is usually used for plant collection and reservation. These plants are grew in the most natural ways, or organic ways.
As soon as you arrive this place, you will definitely don’t believe your eyes. Just take a look around and you will see thousands of colorful flower and tree all over the place, looking so stunning. Nowadays it’s difficult to find place like this, because more factories and buildings are establish. Therefore many green areas have to be destroyed. Also, pollution are increased more and more.
Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden consists of various zones. Each zone gives you good knowledge of botany. Prepare good cameras and tour them one by one. Seriously, you don’t want to forget the park’s beauty, not even one second.

- This place was built for Thai plants and botanic exhibition. Also, there are some books about botany for sale. The prices are affordable.
Glass Houses
- The big one is located in a wide field on a beautifu hill. There are many species of plant, for instances, tropical rain forest, or anything from all over Asia. The main heart of this one is using modern technology to control relative humidity. The technology is all about spraying water in the house, setting up artificial waterfall and forest atmosphere. However, there are still more minor glass houses, which are all filled with interesting plants like desert plants, water plants, or orchids too.
Thai Orchid House
- There are more than 350 kinds of orchid in here. All of them are forest orchids, having sweet smell and looking extremely gorgeous. The orchids were mostly collected from tropical rain forests or deciduous dipterocarp forests. Some species are rare items. But the orchids usually bloom all year around.

- Queen Sirikit Batanic Garden has arranged total 4 paths in the area especially for botanic learning:

There are more than 30 species of plants here, for instances, palm, genus Pandanus, ginger, and lots more. You may feel a little bit worry about how you’re gonna know the name of each plant. Don’t worry! The park already installed labels for every plants, in order to give tourists information of the species.
Beside of taking a look at the flowers, this place is also good for other leisure activities. Some tourists love to bring their own food for picnic nearby Mae Sa Noi Waterfall. Also, you can just take a walk, take some nice photos or find some quiet spot to think about something personally.
But! The most incredible thing here is Canopy Walkway! The park just built it recently. This is Thailand’s longest sky walkway above trees.

Just go up there. 360” View over canopy the new canopy walkway at Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden. 20 meters up in the air, among the mountain treetops of the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, is Thailand’s longest canopy walkway. Experience a nature walk on a 400- meters-long bridge and look down at the subtropical jungle plants far below your feet. Constructed from steel, this canopy walkway offers a glass platform every 50-100 meters and, at the end, it rewards you with stretching views of the valley. All the way, trekkers will enjoy stunning 360-degrees views of the surrounding greenery and mountains.
The design is simply harmonious with nature. Of course, it’s super strong, due to steel. However, you are able to look down in some spots that are decorated with glass.

Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden opens daily from 8:30-17:00.
The admission ticket costs 40 Baht for an adult, 20 Baht for a student, 100 Baht for a car, 200 Baht for a bus. Elderly people, monks and novices are able to go in free!

Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is located on Area 1, 9 Block. Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province.
This place is very easy to travel to. Just travel from Mae Rim District. Keep going along Highway No.1096(Mae Rim-Samoeng) just for about 12 kilometres. Then you will find Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden on your left side.
