Tham Sokoen National Park ‘All natural surroundings that you will love’
Tham Sokoen National Park is another nice national park in Nan that you will love to go with your friends or your love one.
Tham Sakoen National Park is 249.90 square kilometres large. The area takes place in Song Kwae(Nan), Chiang Kham County(Phayao), and Pong County(Phayao).
Its story started more than 2 decades ago, when Mr.Wittaya Hong Wiang Chan found how beautiful and plentiful the area was. He then sent a report to Royal Forest Department.
The forests that were explored after the consideration of the Department were Nam Yao Forest, Nam Suad Forest, Nam Puey Forest, Nam Yuan Forest, Nam Lao Forest, and Mae Yom Forest. Soon, they all were officially turned into a perfect natural tourist attraction.

Most parts of the national park are forests: montane forest, rain forest, semi-evergreen forest, and mixed forest. Feel free to explore these and admire all rare plant species. Also, meet those cute mammals. They’re mostly in small sizes.

Most people get to a national park for camping. That’s right. Nobody wants to have a small amount of time to admire beautiful thing.
You should do that too, we mean, having a camp. Enjoy a few days and a few nights at the national park. You will love your new atmosphere of sleeping. No air conditioner, but the air is perfectly cool. You will wake up with your fresh mind every morning and get to sleep peacefully every night.
Even there aren’t entertaining places like in big cities, but you’re not gonna feel bored for sure. You can do many activities there.
First, you will have a perfect sightseeing and enjoy taking photos. Seriously, if you’re a landscape or nature photographer, both amateur and professional, this place is perfect for creating your works. All of your photos will look great.
Travel during winter for the best air. You can go hiking during winter withour losing your sweat. Go hiking is a good way for exercise. Don’t forget to get up to Doi Phu Langka, which is about 1,720 metres higher than the sea level. Once you get up there and look down, you will see a lot of villages. There will be thick fog around you at some time too.
There are also a lot of waterfalls, for examples, Pha Tarn Waterfall, Pha Lad Waterfall, Huai Had Waterfall. But you need to travel during rainy season if you want to get to a waterfall. Let’s have a picnic at a waterfall during day time. Or you can just play in a waterfall. Just be careful, especially if you have little kids. If the current at the waterfall you go to looks harsh, don’t get in there or you will be in danger. If you’re not so sure whether it’s safe to play in a waterfall or not, just ask an officer of the Tham Sakoen National Park.
Facility
There aren’t restaurants at the national park. Therefore, get your own food. You food should be something that is easy to eat, for examples, sandwich, bread, cake, potato chips, instant noodle etc.

A Thai Tourist: 20 Baht(Adult), 10 Baht(Child)
A Foreign Tourist: 100 Baht(Adult), 50 Baht(Child)
How to get there
Let’s take your own car there for your convenience. If you don’t have a car, you can rent one from a company. Having a car to drive around is a good idea when you visit Nan Province.
Now, to get to the Tham Sakoen national park, you have to look for the Highway 1080(Nan-Tung Chang). Get along the road and head for Wiang Sa County. After reaching Wiang Sa County, you have to turn left to the Highway 1148(Ta Wang Pha-Chiang Kham). Then make sure you pass Ban Sakoen, Yod District, and Song Kwae County. After that, turn right and pass the village for about 5 kilometres. Soon you will be at the national park.
