Chiang Mai province, located in the mountainous region of northern Thailand, is home to a diverse array of national parks that offer breathtaking landscapes, unique flora and fauna, and countless opportunities for exploration and adventure. There are about 13 national parks in Chiang Mai. National parks, in its meaning, are different from ordinary parks. Ordinary parks are just grass fields set up for people to do exercises or some other leisure activities. They’re not much big and also don’t consist of many plants. But national parks are much bigger. They’re usually surrounded with mountains, lakes and greenery. Just think about ‘The Yellowstone’ from the movie ‘2012’, that’s a national park, although it appears so dry in to movie due to unusual global climate. But, if you listen to what Jackson Curtis, the main male character in the movie, says, you will know that he had been to Yellowstone on a trip with his ex-wife quite often in the past.

That means, national parks are somewhat like long-time holiday spots for tourists. Many of them allow tourists to set up camps. Same as in Chiang Mai, which you can spend your nights in a national park you choose, if you want to have fun for many days, not just in one day.

Visitors to Chiang Mai’s national parks can expect to encounter a wide variety of plant and animal species, as the region is home to numerous ecosystems. For example, at Huai Nam Dang National Park, travelers can enjoy panoramic views of mist-covered mountains while exploring its mixed deciduous forests and pine woodlands. Meanwhile, at Mae Takhrai National Park, which stretches across Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Lampang provinces, adventurers can trek through evergreen forests and spot the Siamese fireback, Thailand’s national bird. The parks also support sustainable tourism by working with local communities to provide eco-friendly accommodations and guided tours, ensuring that future generation.
