If you think you have been to many hot springs, then the following one may surprise you a little bit. All hot springs that you have been to consist of many concrete facilities anyway, for examples, bathing rooms, mineral bathing rooms,. But the following hot spring that you’re going to know about is quite different.
What is the difference?
Muang Pang Hot Spring is a natural hot spring. Only its name will make no difference from any other hot springs. But the point is, this hot spring is nearly 100 percents natural. There is a large natural hot spring in the middle of trees, rocks, grass, and hills. You should see the thick steam springing from the ground all the time. The water is 95 degree Celcius. But the big part is, all service booths are totally made of bamboo and grass instead of concret.
However, Muang Paeng Hot Spring is visited by many nature-lover tourists. There is no wonder why. Although the place seems to be lonely, but look on the bright side, it can give you a true time to yourself. With out annoying noises and thick walls around, you can relax yourself, think about something that you want to think about, listen to the sound of the water and leaves, feel the light wind, and of couse, boil eggs in the hot spring to eat happily. There are eggs available for tourists. You just get some.
Moreover, you can take a sightseeing around. This is a favourite activity for foreign tourists, to have a nature exploration on feet. You should do that to take your mind out of stress and lead it to peace instead.
How to get there
Muang Pang Hot Spring is located in Pai County of Mae Hong Son Province. In fact, it is not completely located there. The hot spring itself is about 28 kilometres away from the heart of Pai County. The route is quite long and can be inconvenient for some people.
However, if you want to go, there is no problem. You just have to follow the Highway No.1095(Pai-Mae Malai). Then switch to the Highway No.1265 instead. Later, as soon as you see Mae Ping Forest Reservation Department, you should see the sign that leads you to the destination too. Just keep going until the end of the road, cross the small wooden bridge and walk for about 150 metres. Then you should see the Muang Pang hot spring right in front of you.

It is about 19.30 kilometres away from the hot spring. This village is inhabited Karen people and looks very beautiful. It almost like some scenes from the movies like The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring or the Hobbit. Green grass, trees, hills, are all around. The air is also fresh. You will enjoy observing the lifestyles of villagers and the plantations they use to grow coffee.

This place is about 23.22 kilometres away. It is a Karen village that has been modernised. However, the original culture of the ethnic group has never gone anywhere. They still speak their language, dress in their traditional costumes, and weave fabrics with their hands.
